What next for Britain and the European Union (EU)?

 

Last week Britain voted to leave the EU.  For the UK to actually leave, it must invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty for the formal legal process to set in.  This will give the the United Kingdom (UK) two years to negotiate it’s withdrawal from the EU.  Until then, the UK must abide by the laws and regulations set by the EU, although it cannot be involved in decision making.

Thousands of Syrian refugees may be heading to Britain in the coming weeks.

 

Justine Greening, the International Development Secretary, has been unable to give precise numbers on Syrian refugees that will be entering Britain in response to the government’s pledge to take up to 20,000 refugees within the next 5 years.

Migrant crisis unfolds: Munich ‘at limit’ as thousands more migrants enter Germany

 

According to the BBC, reports from Munich confirm that 13,000 migrants arrived in the city on Saturday alone.  A police spokesman states however that the city has “reached the upper limit of our capacity” as efforts were being made to house the new arrivals.
