Thousands of Syrian refugees may be heading to Britain in the coming weeks.

Justine Greening, the International Development Secretary, has been unable to give precise numbers on Syrian refugees that will be entering Britain in response to the government’s pledge to take up to 20,000 refugees within the next 5 years.

The Cabinet Secretary did however confirm that Britain would not succumb to the EU quota system dictated by Brussels.  Jean-Claude Juncker, the President of the European Commission has called upon all of the Member states to accept quotas to resettle 160,000 refugees.  Britain has however, continually refused to accept the quota system.
