The Tier 1 (Investor) route is currently for those migrants seeking to invest £1,000,000 or more in the UK. Migrants can enter the UK for a maximum period of 3 years and 4 months and can then apply for an extension.
Mid October, the Home Office published a Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules which confirmed that the Tier 1 (Investor) route is going to be reformed following recommendations from the Migration Advisory Committee. As a result, the minimum investment threshold will be raised from £1,000,000 to £2,000,000 with effect from 6th November 2014.
There will be further consultations on the type of investment the route should encourage in order to deliver real economic benefits.
